On April, 13th 2024, 40 students from Colegio Santo Inacio de Loiola – Kasait participated in an Anti-Doping Workshop hosted in the CSIL Laboratory Room. During this informative session, lasting 2 hours, students were enlightened by facilitators on the nuances of Doping, Anti-Doping measures, and the consequences of engaging in doping practices.

The initiative, organized by the National Sports Commission (NSC), was a pivotal step in upholding Timor-Leste’s commitment to combat doping in sports. Timor-Leste, having ratified the UNESCO Convention against doping in 2016 and established the National Sports Commission through Decree-Law No.60/2022, underscores its dedication to fostering ethical sports practices.

The workshop, tailored for the students of Colegio Santo Inacio de Loiola-Kasait, was a strategic move by the National Sports Commission, recognizing the school’s robust engagement in physical and sports activities, notably the annual Loiola Cup. With a vibrant sports culture in the school, equipping students with knowledge on doping and anti-doping mechanisms is deemed imperative to safeguard the integrity of sports.

Furthermore, in alignment with the World Anti-Doping Agency’s (WADA) directives, Timor-Leste aims to intensify anti-doping education initiatives across various levels, encompassing athletes, national sports federations, communities, parents, teachers, and students. This comprehensive approach underscores the nation’s unwavering commitment to fostering clean and fair sports practices at all levels.
