Dili, 23rd of February 2026 – As preparations intensify for the 2026 Asian Beach Games, Timor-Leste has reinforced its commitment to clean sport through its first Anti-Doping Education Workshop of 2026. The National Sports Commission (NSC) in collaboration with the Timor-Leste National Olympic Committee (TL-NOC), the workshop was held on 23 February for athletes and coaches selected to compete in Sanya, China from 22–30 April 2026. The initiative underscores the country’s determination to ensure its delegation competes with integrity and full awareness of its anti-doping obligations on the Asian stage.

The session delivered comprehensive anti-doping education covering doping control procedures, the Prohibited List, risks associated with supplements, and the Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) process. Particular emphasis was placed on athletes’ rights and responsibilities, including the principle of strict liability. The workshop also highlighted the important role of Athlete Support Personnel (ASPs), including coaches and team officials, in safeguarding clean sport and supporting athletes in meeting their obligations.

Anti-doping certification is mandatory for International-Level Athletes (ILA) and Coaches in High-Performance roles (CHP) in order to compete in international events. The NSC confirmed that 100% of eligible athletes and coaches have successfully obtained the required certification ahead of Sanya 2026. With strong engagement and active discussion throughout the workshop, Timor-Leste’s delegation demonstrated readiness not only to perform, but to uphold the highest standards of fairness and integrity at Sanya 2026.
