Dili, February 27, 2025 – The National Sports Commission successfully conducted its first Anti-Doping Education & Learning (ADEL) training of 2025 for the Timor-Leste Men’s National Football Team, who will be competing in the AFC Asian Cup 2027 Qualifiers. This initiative marks a crucial step in promoting clean sport and ensuring compliance with international anti-doping regulations.

The opening session was attended by key figures in Timor-Leste’s football sector, including the Secretary General of the Timor-Leste Football Federation, Mr. José Adilson Ribeiro; Director of the National Team, Mr. João Maneco Amaral; Referee Director, Mr. Nivio Fernandes; and Technical Director, Mr. Gaspar Quintão da Silva. A total of 40 participants, including national team players and officials, took part in the training.

The program covered essential anti-doping information for athletes and athlete support personnel (ASP), followed by an ADEL training session. Athletes and coaches completed the International-Level Athlete and High-Performance Coaches modules to obtain certification. This training ensures that all team members understand the importance of clean competition and comply with anti-doping regulations ahead of the AFC Asian Cup 2027 Qualifiers.

This initiative highlights Timor-Leste’s commitment to strengthening anti-doping education and promoting fair play in international football. The National Sports Commission aims to expand such educational programs across various sports disciplines in the country.
